With the emergence of learning and reasoning techniques, sensors may be able to not only detect ‘what’ is going on, but also ‘why’ something is going on.

Cognition in sensors requires these sensors to observe their environment, reason about findings and decide on future actions which influence that same environment again. This is the well known ‘Perception – Action Cycle’ (PAC) which can be found in many intelligent systems.

This website provides a collaborative space for a select group of researchers to organise, store and access research documentation. It is unfortunately closed for others, but the end results will be shared in the form of scientific papers in the relevant journals.

Visitors are invited to share ideas for topics related to cognitive sensing. The contact details including email address can be found in the footer of this page. We are very interested to hear from you if there are research topics which we may address.
